Match Play Bracket Series

VGL Match Play Bracket Series runs alongside any VGL round and allows two players to have a head to head 9 hole match, once per season. This format encourages players to play with all other VGL members so they can get more match play rounds in.

Match Play is VGL handicap adjusted. To play a match, players need to notify commissioner of match play before their round. Commissioner will send a 'match play card' to both players pre round. The card will show playing handicap and strokes given/taken for each hole of the match. Both players need to have a VGL handicap to participate in match play.

Match Play games can be played at the same time as VGL regular or tournament rounds. Player needs to play all holes out so that their regular score can still be counted towards leaderboard totals.  Match Play results will be calculated from submitted round scorecard.

Rules: In match play, all VGL rules need to be given by your direct opponent (gimme putts, off the sides, ball relief etc.). VGL Mulligan rule is still in play. Please be kind and fair.

Players are awarded the following points to the match play standings:

Win - 3 points

Tie - 2 points

Loss - 1 point

At end of match play round robin (date TBD), the top 4 players in the match play standings will go to a final four match play bracket final (date TBD), played over an 18 hole game:

Front 9 - 1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd

Back 9 - Winners of front 9 games for 1st and 2nd place finish, losers of front 9 games for 3rd place finish

Tiebreaker - Average Points Per Match, Match Play Head to Head result, higher match play win count, higher match play tie count, higher match play matches played

If a player is not available to play the final, the next ranked player from the match play standings will be invited.

Bonus Leaderboard points will be awarded to final round as follows:

1st Place -  250 LB pts

2nd Place - 200 LB pts

3rd  Place - 150 LB pts

4th Place - 100 LB pts
